As for the ḥadīth of Jarīr, it is narrated by al-Faraj ibn al-Yamān: ʿUmar ibn Yazīd narrated to us from Ziyād ibn ʿAlāqah from him. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (4/170/4700), and he said: "This isnād is weak." I said: I do not know al-Faraj ibn al-Yamān and ʿUmar ibn Yazīd. In summary, the ḥadīth, with all its chains, is authentic, especially since some of them are good in themselves as previously mentioned. And Allāh knows best. *
"Do you want to be a troublemaker, O Muʿādh?! When you lead the people in prayer, recite (By the sun and its brightness) and (Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High) and (By the night as it covers) and (Read in the name of your Lord)." It is from the ḥadīth of Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), and it is narrated from him by a group with different wordings, some lengthy and some concise. This is the wording of Abū al-Zubayr, narrated from him by al-Layth ibn Saʿd. It was recorded by Muslim (2/42), al-Nasāʾī (1/155), Ibn Mājah (1/315/986), Abū ʿAwānah (2/173), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (3/116) through various chains from al-Layth from Abū al-Zubayr, from him who said: Muʿādh ibn Jabal led his companions in the ʿIshāʾ prayer and prolonged it for them, so one of our men left [and prayed alone], and Muʿādh was informed about him, so he said: He is a hypocrite. When that man heard this, he went to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and informed him of what Muʿādh had said, so the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him: ... and mentioned it
