al-Ṭabarānī (17/136) through the route of Abū ʿĀṣim: Abū Maʿdān al-Minqarī—meaning: ʿĀmir ibn Masʿūd—said: ʿAwn ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah narrated to me: My father told me from my grandfather. And this ʿĀmir, I did not recognize him, nor did I find a biography for him in the references I have, neither among those named "ʿĀmir" nor those with the kunyah "Abū Maʿdān," nor those with the nisbah "al-Minqarī." 2- And it was narrated from him through another isnād, where al-Jarrāḥ ibn Makhlad said: Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān al-Jazarī narrated to us: Saʿīd ibn ʿAnbasah al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us: Abū Maʿdān said: I heard ʿAwn ibn Abī Juḥayfah narrate from his father who said: A woman came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ with a black slave girl, and the woman said: O Messenger of Allāh! I have a duty to free a believing slave; will this one suffice for me? The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said to her: "Where is Allāh?" She said: In the sky. He said: "And who am I?" She said: You are the Messenger of Allāh. He said: "Do you testify that there is no deity but Allāh, and that I am the Messenger of Allāh?" She said: Yes. He said: "Do you believe in what has come from Allāh?" She said: Yes, he said: "Free her; for she is a believer." al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (22/116-117). I said: And this isnād is very weak, being a chain of defects: the first being Abū Maʿdān; for he is unknown as mentioned earlier, and al-Ṭabarānī named him in the chapter "Abū Maʿdān: ʿĀmir ibn Murrah from ʿAwn," then he cited this ḥadīth, and I did not find it either
