(Note): Despite the numerous sources that narrated this ḥadīth, including "Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim," the ḥāfiẓ did not recall any of them, attributing it in "al-Fatḥ" (8/734) only to Ibn Mardawayh! Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī followed him in this in his commentary on "Zawāʾid al-Zuhd"! There is a concise supporting narration from Umm Salamah who said: The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) before he died frequently said: "Glory be to You, O Allāh, and with Your praise, I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You." I said: O Messenger of Allāh! I see you frequently saying: "Glory be to You, O Allāh, and with Your praise, I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You"? He said: "I have been commanded with a command" and he recited: (When the victory of Allāh has come and the conquest) (Sūrah al-Naṣr, verse 1). It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr" (p. 141 - Hind/1186 - al-Rawḍ), and in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/291/1/4869): narrated to us by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Salm Abū Yaḥyá al-Rāzī: narrated to us by Sahl ibn ʿUthmān: narrated to us by Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth from ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal from al-Shaʿbī from her. And he said: "Sahl was unique in narrating it!" He is trustworthy, from the men of Muslim, and he was followed; Ibn Jarīr said: narrated to us by Abū al-Sāʾib from Ḥafṣ with it. And this Abū al-Sāʾib is Salm ibn Junādah, who is truthful but may occasionally differ; as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," thus the chain is authentic. There is another supporting narration from Ibn Masʿūd, and from him his son Abū ʿUbaydah. It was recorded by al-Ṭayālisī (339), and its narrators are trustworthy
