the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) entered the mosque, and there were women from the Anṣār present. He admonished them, reminded them, and instructed them to give charity, even from their jewelry. Then he said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is good or close to good; due to the known disagreement regarding ʿUthmān ibn al-Haytham the muezzin. Although he was among the teachers of al-Bukhārī, they criticized him for his memory. Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (3/172): "My father narrated from him, and I asked him about him? He said: He was truthful; however, towards the end, he would repeat what he was prompted." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (8/453-454), and said: "He died in the year 220." al-Dāraqutnī said: "Truthful but made many mistakes." The ḥāfiẓ summarized this and said in "al-Taqrīb": "Trustworthy, but he changed and began to repeat what he was prompted." al-Bukhārī remained silent about him in "al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr", so perhaps his inclusion of him in "al-Ṣaḥīḥ" was based on selection and choosing from his ḥadīth. Thus, let this ḥadīth of ours be of this kind, and for this reason, I included it, as it has another route: narrated by Abū Naḍrah: A shaykh from Ṭafāwah narrated to me from Abū Hurayrah with it in detail. It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd and others, and I included it in "al-Irwāʾ" (7/73/2011), and I strengthened it there with supporting narrations from the ḥadīth of Asmāʾ bint Yazīd and Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī. When I came across this corroboration of Ibn Sīrīn for the Ṭafāwī, I hastened to include it here due to its rarity and uniqueness, and to confirm the authenticity of the ḥadīth. And Allāh knows best
