he is Ḍumrah ibn Ḥabīb al-Zuhrī al-Ḥimṣī, and Ibn Maʿīn considered him trustworthy. However, he remained silent about the ḥadīth and did not clarify its status! It is undoubtedly authentic, as will be evident to the readers from this analysis, which I believe is unprecedented, and all praise is due to Allāh, first and last. *

(If it were me, I would have hastened to respond and not sought an excuse). It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/346 and 389), and Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in his "Tafsīr" (12/139), and al-Ḥākim (2/346-347) through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said—and he recited this verse (Return to your Lord and ask Him about the women who cut their hands; indeed, my Lord is knowledgeable of their plot)—the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: Rather, it is only ḥasan; because Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr was only included by Muslim as a corroborating narrator, and there is some weakness in his memory. Al-Tirmidhī has graded several ḥadīths as ḥasan through him, including this ḥadīth. He narrated it in a more complete form, which has been mentioned earlier under number (1617), and its origin is agreed upon, and it was previously mentioned under number (1867), and see (1945). *

- (He used to say: O Allāh! Benefit me with what You have taught me, and teach me what will benefit me, and provide me with knowledge that will benefit me). It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (1/510), and from him by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Daʿawāt al-Kabīr" (157-158), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Duʿāʾ" (3/1455/1405) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb: Usāmah ibn Zayd informed me that Sulaymān ibn Mūsá narrated to him from Makhūl that he entered upon Anas ibn..
