"It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr"; and in it is Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab al-Qurqasānī, whom Ibn Maʿīn and others considered weak, but Aḥmad authenticated him." I said: And Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ is also weak. However, it has a supporting narration that is elevated, as Abū Yaʿlá said in his "Musnad"—in its extended narration: Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd narrated to us: Yaḥyá ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us from Jābir ibn Ghānim al-Salafī from Abū Ṣuhayb from his father Ṣuhayb—may Allāh be pleased with him—said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "A man's voluntary prayer where people do not see him is equivalent to his prayer in front of people twenty-five times." And it was also narrated by al-Daylamī in "Musnad al-Firdaws" (2/244) through the route of Abū al-Shaykh from ʿIṣām ibn Khālid: Jābir ibn Ghānim narrated to us: Ibn Ṣuhayb narrated to us from his father from his grandfather with it elevated. I said: And Jābir ibn Ghānim and those below him are trustworthy, but those above him: Abū Ṣuhayb—or Ibn Ṣuhayb, his father, and his grandfather—I did not know them, and perhaps Ṣuhayb is the grandfather of Ḍumrah ibn Ḥabīb ibn Ṣuhayb mentioned in the isnād of the ḥadīth of the chapter, but I did not find a biography for him, and Allāh knows best. However, the ḥadīth of the chapter supports its meaning, and it was narrated by al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (3/173/3259) through the route of Abū ʿAwānah from Manṣūr from Hilāl ibn Yasāf from Ḍumrah ibn Ḥabīb from a man among the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said ... and he mentioned it as a mawqūf narration with the wording: "The superiority of a man's prayer in his house over his prayer where people see him is like the superiority of the obligatory over the voluntary." And similarly, it was mentioned by al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (1/159), but he added after his saying: ".. from
