they began to slip away and stand up, until only a small group remained. He said, "How many are you?" They counted themselves, and there were twelve men and a woman. He said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, if the last of you had followed the first of you, the valley would have been set ablaze with fire for you," and Allāh revealed: (And when they see a trade...) the verse. I said: This is a mursal ḥadīth with a sound isnād, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for Bishr—who is Ibn Muʿādh al-ʿAqdī al-Ḍarīr—about whom Abū Ḥātim said (2/368/1417): "Ṣāliḥ in ḥadīth, truthful." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (8/144), and said: "Ibn Khuzaymah and our shaykhs narrated from him, he died in the year (245) or slightly before or after." (Note): It is stated in "Fatḥ al-Bārī" (2/424) as follows: "It appears in 'Tafsīr al-Ṭabarī' and 'Ibn Abī Ḥātim' with a sound isnād to Abū Qatādah who said..." and the ḥadīth is mentioned. I say: It appears as "Abī Qatādah" in it! And it was transmitted as such from "al-Fatḥ" by the author of "Taḥrīr al-Marʾah fī ʿAṣr al-Risālah" (2/182), which is a typographical error, and the correct version is "Qatādah" without the kunya "Abī," supported by its correct occurrence in two other places in "al-Fatḥ": one of them in "al-Tafsīr" where it says (8/644): "It appears with al-Ṭabarī through the route of Qatādah..." and the other: in "al-Jumuʿah" a page before the first location (2/423) it says: "And in the mursal of Qatādah with al-Ṭabarānī"!
