indeed, Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him in "al-Kuná" and said: (4/2/361) "Abū Ḥamzah al-Khūlānī, heard from Jābir. Bakr ibn Sawādah narrated from him. Abū Zurʿah said: He is Egyptian, his name is unknown." He also mentioned him in "al-Asmāʾ" and said (4/2/49): "Wafāʾ (in the original: Waqāʾ with a qāf) ibn Shurayḥ al-Ṣudfī, narrated from Sahl ibn Saʿd and Ruwayfiʿ ibn Thābit, narrated from him Ziyād ibn Niʿam and Bakr ibn Sawādah." I said: It appears that they are the same person if the narration of Ibn Lahīʿah is correct. And Allāh knows best.
