Aḥmad also narrated it (3/397): Khalaq ibn al-Walīd narrated to us, Khālid narrated it. It appeared as Khālid ibn Ḥumayd al-Aʿraj, which is a transcription error. I say: This is a sound chain of narration; all its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for Wahb ibn Baqiyyah, who is from the men of Muslim alone, and he was followed by Khalaq ibn al-Walīd, and there is no harm in him in "follow-ups." He was also followed by Usāmah ibn Zayd al-Laythī from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir. Aḥmad also narrated it (3/357) and its chain is good. It has a supporting narration from the ḥadīth of Sahl ibn Saʿd al-Sāʿidī who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to us while we were reciting, and he said: 'All praise is due to Allāh, the Book of Allāh is one, among you is the red, among you is the white, and among you is the black, recite it...' the ḥadīth." It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd and Ibn Ḥibbān in "his Ṣaḥīḥ" (no. 1876) from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith (the first of them added: and Ibn Lahīʿah) from Bakr ibn Sawādah from Wafāʾ ibn Sharīḥ al-Ṣudafī from Sahl ibn Saʿd with it, except that he said: "he hastens his reward and does not delay it." I say: Its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for Ibn Lahīʿah - other than this Wafāʾ, whom only Ibn Ḥibbān authenticated, and no one narrated from him except this Bakr and Ziyād ibn Naʿīm, and for this reason, the ḥāfiẓ said about him "acceptable" and did not authenticate him. The narration of Ibn Lahīʿah was extracted by the Imām in "al-Musnad" (3/146, 155) through two routes from him with it, except that he made it from the Musnad of Anas ibn Mālik, not from the Musnad of Sahl, and perhaps that is from his errors, for he is known for poor memory, and he said in a narration "from Wafāʾ al-Khūlānī" and in another "from Abū Ḥamzah al-Khūlānī." If he preserved it, then this is a rare benefit not found in the biographies, for he attributed him as Khūlānī and gave him the kunya Abū Ḥamzah, which was not mentioned in his biography in "al-Tahdhīb" and others
وأخرجه أحمد (٣ / ٣٩٧) : حدثنا خلف بن الوليد حدثنا خالد به. ووقع فيه خالد بن حميد الأعرج. وهو تصحيف. قلت: وهذا سند صحيح، رجاله كلهم ثقات رجال الشيخين، غير وهب ابن بقية فمن رجال مسلم وحده، وتابعه خلف بن الوليد ولا بأس به في " المتابعات ". وتابعه أسامة بن زيد الليثي عن محمد بن المنكدر به. أخرجه أحمد (٣ / ٣٥٧) وإسناده حسن. وله شاهد من حديث سهل بن سعد الساعدي قال:" خرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ ونحن نقترئ، فقال: " الحمد لله كتاب الله واحد، وفيكم الأحمر، وفيكم الأبيض، وفيكم الأسود، اقرؤوه.. " الحديث. أخرجه أبو داود وابن حبان في " صحيحه " (رقم ١٨٧٦) عن عمرو بن الحارث (زاد الأول منهما: وابن لهيعة) عن بكر بن سوادة عن وفاء بن شريح الصدفي عن سهل بن سعد به إلا أنه قال: " يتعجل أجره، ولا يتأجله ". قلت: ورجاله ثقات رجال مسلم باستثناء ابن لهيعة - غير وفاء هذا، فلم يوثقه غير ابن حبان، ولم يرو عنه سوى بكر هذا، وزياد بن نعيم، ولهذا قال الحافظ فيه " مقبول " ولم يوثقه. ورواية ابن لهيعة، قد أخرجها الإمام في " المسند " (٣ / ١٤٦، ١٥٥) من طريقين عنه به إلا أنه جعله من مسند أنس بن مالك، لا من مسند سهل، ولعل ذلك من أوهامه، فإنه معروف بسوء الحفظ، وقال في رواية " عن وفاء الخولاني " وفي الأخرى " عن أبي حمزة الخولاني ". فإن كان حفظه، فهذه فائدة عزيزة لا توجد في التراجم، فقد نسبه خولانيا وكناه بأبي حمزة، وهذا مما لم يذكر في ترجمته من " التهذيب " وغيره.
