"its isnād is good." And Muhājir ibn Ḥabīb does not exist in the biographical dictionaries; except for what was previously mentioned by Ibn Ḥibbān, who noted his fear that it might be a distortion of "Muhāṣir." Similarly, it was distorted by the copyists of "al-Iṣābah" and "Usd al-Ghābah" (1/85), and by the compiler of "Fahāris al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (p. 561) and others; like the commentator on "al-Thiqāt"; the previous phrase about him appeared as: "And I fear that he is Muhājir..." thus: "Muhājir"!! Correctly, it appeared in the biography of Arṭāh ibn al-Mundhir in "Tārīkh Ibn ʿAsākir," "Tahdhīb al-Kamāl," and also in "Tartīb Thiqāt al-ʿAjlī" by al-Haythamī (442/1645) who said: "A trustworthy Syrian follower." I said: al-Haythamī did not mention in his book "Tartīb Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān" the distorted biography of "Muhājir..." so I do not know whether this was due to his conviction that it was distorted and thus should not be included in the book, or because it did not appear in his copy of "al-Thiqāt." And Allāh knows best. He indicated in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" the authentication of this Muhāṣir, saying after the ḥadīth of the biography (10/357): "Narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and in it is Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd, who is a mudallis, and the rest of its men are trustworthy." -And I say: Baqiyyah explicitly stated in al-Bukhārī's narration that he heard it, thus we are assured of his non-concealment, and therefore the ḥāfiẓ deemed its isnād good, as mentioned earlier.
