I said: This is a good isnād. Asad ibn Kurz—pronounced with a ḍammah—is a well-known Companion, mentioned in "al-Iṣābah" and other sources. Those below him are trustworthy and mentioned in "al-Tahdhīb" and other sources, except for Muhāṣir ibn Ḥabīb al-Zubaydī, who is the brother of Ḍumrah ibn Ḥabīb al-Zubaydī al-Shāmī. Abū Ḥātim said: "There is no harm in him." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in (the Followers of the Followers) in "al-Thiqāt" (7/525-526), and also mentioned him in (the Followers) of it (5/454), saying: "He narrates from a group of Companions, and the people of al-Shām narrate from him. He died in the year 128." He mentioned him in the same category (5/427), and his name has been altered by some narrators, both ancient and modern; he said: "Muhājir ibn Ḥabīb al-Zubaydī. He narrates from Asad ibn Kurz, who has companionship. Arṭāh ibn al-Mundhir narrated from him, and I fear that he is Muhāṣir ibn Ḥabīb al-Zubaydī." I said: What he feared has indeed occurred even in this part of his book, and his editor did not notice it, commenting: "He is mentioned in 'al-Iṣābah' in the biography of his teacher Asad ibn Kurz."
