(That was Gabriel, and indeed among you are men who, if one of them swears by Allāh, He will fulfill it.) It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (3/306-307, al-Kashf), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (12/11-12) and "al-Awsaṭ" (1/153/1/2873), and through his route: al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (59/212/1-2), and al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (7/76) through various chains from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Ḥārithī: narrated by Yaʿqūb al-Qammī from Jaʿfar ibn Abī al-Mughīrah from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) visited a man from the Anṣār, and when he approached his house, he heard him speaking inside. When he sought permission to enter, he went in and saw no one. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him: I heard you speaking to someone? He said: O Messenger of Allāh! I entered inside, distressed by people's talk about my fever, and someone entered upon me whom I have never seen a man more honorable in assembly nor better in speech than him after you. He said ... and mentioned it. Al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī said similarly: "It is not narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās except through this isnād." I say: It is a good isnād; this al-Ḥārithī was mentioned by al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (2/390-391) with the narration of a group of trustworthy and reliable narrators about him, then narrated from the ḥāfiẓ Abū ʿAlī Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad - Jazrah - (1) that he said: "Trustworthy." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (9/83) with the narration of the ḥāfiẓ ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī, then said: "He might make mistakes."
