I said: al-Haythamī firmly declared him trustworthy, as will be mentioned, and this is part of his leniency, even though others preceded him in this. However, one should not overlook the detailed criticism contained in the words of Ibn Ḥibbān and others. Therefore, one should avoid his ḥadīth that is feared to be erroneous, or select from his ḥadīth what is free from his mistakes, as is the case here; for he was corroborated in it. Zayd ibn Abī Unaysah said: from al-Minhāl ibn ʿAmr with it in an extended form as well, and with the wording mentioned in the narration of al-Dalānī. It was recorded by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad in "al-Sunnah" (2/520-524, Dār Ibn al-Qayyim), and also by al-Ṭabarānī from him and from two other ḥadīth masters, all three of them, and by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Baʿth" (239/479), all of them from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbayd ibn Abī Karīmah al-Ḥarrānī: narrated to us Muḥammad ibn Salamah al-Ḥarrānī from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥīm from Zayd ibn Abī Unaysah with it. I said: This is a sound isnād, all its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim; except for Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbayd al-Ḥarrānī, who is trustworthy as al-Dhahabī said in "al-Kāshif," and al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb"; and he added: "he narrates rare things." Al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (4/198 and 248): "Ibn Abī al-Dunyā and al-Ṭabarānī narrated it through chains, one of which is sound, and al-Ḥākim said: its isnād is sound." Ibn al-Qayyim said in "Ḥādī al-Arwāḥ ilá Bilād al-Afrāḥ" (2/94, Kurdī edition): "This is a major, good ḥadīth..." As for al-Haythamī, he said (10/343): "Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it all through chains, one of which consists of the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ; except Abū Khālid al-Dalānī; and he is trustworthy!"
