It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (9/416-421), and by al-Ḥākim (2/376-377 and 4/589-592), who said in the first instance: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two shaykhs!" and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! He said in another instance: "The narrators of this ḥadīth—up to the last of them—are trustworthy; however, they did not include Abū Khālid al-Dalānī in 'the two Ṣaḥīḥs' because of what was mentioned about his deviation from the sunnah in mentioning the Companions. As for the early imams, all of them testified to Abū Khālid's truthfulness and precision. The ḥadīth is authentic, but they did not include it, and Abū Khālid al-Dalānī is among those whose ḥadīth is collected among the imams of the people of Kūfah." So he said! And I do not know of anyone who testified to his precision. As for his truthfulness, yes, but his memory is weak as will be mentioned. As for al-Dhahabī, he critiqued him here by saying: "He did not reject a ḥadīth due to the quality of its isnād, and Abū Khālid is a deviant Shīʿī!" And I say: I have not seen anyone who accused him of Shīʿism, so perhaps he was confused with someone else. Then, he is disputed, as al-Dhahabī himself said in "al-Kāshif": "Abū Ḥātim deemed him trustworthy, and Ibn ʿAdī said: there is leniency in his ḥadīth." He also said in "al-Mughnī": "Well-known, his ḥadīth is good. Aḥmad said: there is no harm in him, and Ibn Ḥibbān said: he has severe delusions, and it is not permissible to use him as evidence." Therefore, al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but makes many mistakes, and he used to practice tadlīs."
أخرجه الطبراني في "المعجم الكبير" (٩/٤١٦ - ٤٢١) ، والحاكم (٢/٣٧٦- ٣٧٧ و ٤/٥٨٩- ٥٩٢) وقال في الموضع الأول:"صحيح على شرط الشيخين "! ووافقه الذهبي! وقال في الموضع الآخر:"رواة هذا الحديث- عن آخرهم- ثقات؛ غير أنهما لم يخرجا أبا خالد الدالاني في "الصحيحين "؛ لما ذكر من انحرافه عن السنة في ذكر الصحابة، فأمّا الأئمة المستقدمون؛ فكلهم شهدوا لأبي خالد بالصدق والإتقان، والحديث صحيح ولم يخرجاه، وأبو خالد الدالاني ممن يجمع حديثه في أئمة أهل الكوفة". كذا قال! وما عرفت من شهد له بالإتقان، أما الصدق؛ فنعم، وفي حفظه ضعف كما يأتي، وأما الذهبي؛ فتعقبه هنا بقوله:"ما أنكره حديثاً على جودة إسناده، وأبو خالد شيعي منحرف "! وأقول: لم أر من رماه بالتشيع، فلعله التبس عليه بغيره، ثم هو مختلف فيه، فقال الذهبي نفسه في "الكاشف ":"وثقة أبو حاتم، وقال ابن عدي: في حديثه لين ". وقال في " المغني ":"مشهور، حسن الحديث، قال أحمد: لا بأس به، وقال ابن حبان: فاحِشُ الوهم، لا يجوز الاحتجاج به ". ولذلك قال الحافظ في "التقريب ":"صدوق يخطئ كثيراً، وكان يدلس ".
