third: he included al-Nasāʾī with them, and he has the mentioned addition as you know! It is also found with Abū ʿAwānah in his "Ṣaḥīḥ," as noted by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ" (2/444). *
الثالث: أنه قرن معهم النسائي، وعنده الزيادة المذكورة كما عرفت! وهي عند أبي عوانة في "صحيحه " أيضاً، كما أفاده الحافظ في "الفتح " (٢/٤٤٤) . *
(The last person to enter Paradise will be a man; he will walk once, stumble once, and the fire will scorch him once. When he passes it, he will turn to it and say: Blessed is He who saved me from you. Indeed, Allāh has given me something that He has not given to anyone from the earlier or later generations. Then a tree will be raised for him, and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me closer to this tree so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. Allāh will say: O son of Adam! Perhaps if I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else? He will say: No, my Lord! And he will promise not to ask for anything else. His Lord will excuse him because he sees what he cannot bear. So He will bring him closer to it, and he will enjoy its shade and drink from its water. Then a tree more beautiful than the first will be raised for him, and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me closer to this so that I may drink from its water and enjoy its shade, and I will not ask You for anything else. Allāh will say: O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? He will say: Perhaps if I bring you closer to it, you will ask Me for something else? He will promise not to ask for anything else, and his Lord will excuse him because he sees what he cannot bear. So He will bring him closer to it, and he will enjoy its shade and drink from its water. Then a tree will be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two, and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me closer to this so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water, and I will not ask You for anything else! Allāh will say: O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? He said:
(آخرُ مَن يدخلُ الجنةَ رجلٌ؛ فهو يمشي مرة، ويكبو مرةً، وتسفعُهُ النارُ مرةً، فإذا ما جاوزَها التفتَ إليها فقال: تباركَ الذي نجاني منكِ، لقدْ أعطاني الله شيئاً ما أعطاه أحداً من الأولين والآخرين، فتُرفعُ لهُ شجرةٌ، فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدنني من هذه الشجرة، فلأستظلَّ بظلِّها، وأشربَ من مائها، فيقولُ الله ﷿: يا ابن أدم! لعلِّي إن أعطيتُكَها سألتني غيرها؟ فيقولُ: لا يا ربِّ! ويعاهدُه أن لا يسألَه غيرها، وربُّه يعذِرُه؛ لأنَّه يرى ما لا صبْرَ لَهُ عليه، فيدنيهِ منها، فيستَظلُّ بظلِّها، ويشربُ من مائها. ثم ترفعُ له شجرةً هي أحسن من الأولى، فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدنني من هذه لأشربَ من مائها، وأستظلَّ بظلِّها، لا أسأَلُكَ غيرها، فيقولُ: يا ابن آدم! ألم تعاهدْني أن لا تسألنِي غيرها؟ فيقول: لعلِّي إن أدنيتُك منها تسألُني غيرها؟ فيعاهدهُ أن لا يسألَه غيرَها، وربُّه يعذرُه؛ لأنَّه يرى ما لا صَبْرَ له عليه، فيدنيهِ منها، فيستظلُّ بظلِّها، ويشربُ من مائها. ثم ترفعُ له شجرةٌ عند باب الجنة هي أحسن من الأولَيَيْنِ، فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدنني من هذه لأستظلَّ بظلِّها، وأشربَ من مائها، لا أسألُكَ غيرها! فيقولُ: يا ابن آدمَ! ألمْ تعاهدني أن لا تسألَني غيرها؟ قال:
