"He is not known, and Yaḥyá ibn Maʿīn considered him weak." The ḥāfiẓ also affirmed this. And I did not recognize Ibn Abī Ihāb. A ḥadīth from Abū Juḥayfah supports this, elevated with the wording: "I do not eat reclining." In another narration: "I do not eat while reclining." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (5398 and 5399) and others. In another wording: "As for me, I do not eat reclining." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī—who authenticated it—and al-Bayhaqī, and it is cited in "al-Irwāʾ" (7/27/1966). I only said: it may support it; because it is not explicit in prohibition, and for this reason, some said that it is among the prophetic characteristics, and al-Bukhārī titled it: "Chapter on Eating Reclining." The ḥāfiẓ said in his "Sharḥ" (9/541): "That is, what is its ruling? He did not assert it because there is no explicit prohibition." So he said! The ḥadīth of the chapter challenges this, and it cannot be said: perhaps he did not mention it because it was not authentic to him! I said: this is contrary to his habit; for if he had recalled it, he would have mentioned it and explained its weakness as is his usual practice
"لا يُعرف، وضعفه يحيى بن معين ".وأقرَّه الحافظ أيضاً.وابن أبي إهاب لم أعرفه. وقد يشهد له حديث أبي جُحَيْفة مرفوعاً بلفظ:" إني لا آكل متكئاً ".وفي رواية:"لا آكل وأنا متكئ ".أخرجه البخاري (٥٣٩٨ و ٥٣٩٩) وغيره. وفي لفظ آخر:"أما أنا؛ فلا آكل متكئاً ".رواه الترمذي- وصححه-، والبيهقي، وهو مخرج في " الإرواء " (٧/٢٧/١٩٦٦) . وإنما قلت: قد يشهد له؛ لأنه ليس صريحاً في النهي، ولذلك قال بعضهم: إن ذلك من الخصائص النبوية، وترجم له البخاري بقوله:"باب الأكل متكئاً ". فقال الحافظ في "شرحه " (٩/٥٤١) :"أي: ما حكمه؟ وإنما لم يجزم به؛ لأنه لم يأت فيه نهي صريح ".كذا قال! ويَرِدُ عليه حديث الترجمة، ولا يقال: لعله لم يذكره؛ لأنه لم يصح عنده! قلت: هذا خلاف عادته؛ فإنه لو استحضره؛ لذكره وبين ضعفه كما هي عادته الغالبة.
