I said: This is how it appeared; the isnād from Ibn Jūṣā to Ibn al-Mundhir was not provided, as there are gaps between them. I do not know if the omission is from the copyist or the printer, or if it is an abbreviation by the author?! It occurred to me the possibility that Ibn Jūṣā might be the narrator of the ḥadīth from Abū al-Yamān; because Ibn Jūṣā is one of the teachers of al-Ṭabarānī, and he extracted a part of it from another teacher of his from Abū al-Yamān. He said in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/3/33 - my numbering): Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Najdah narrated to us, he said: Abū al-Yamān narrated to us... with the isnād of al-Ṣughdī in an abbreviated form with the wording: "Do not eat reclining, and do not step over people's necks on Friday." Al-Ṭabarānī said: "It is not narrated from Abū al-Dardāʾ except with this isnād, and Arṭāh is the sole narrator of it." Then I dismissed the aforementioned possibility when I learned from "Siyar Aʿlām al-Dhahabī" (15/15) that Ibn Jūṣā was born around the year two hundred and thirty, so he did not meet Abū al-Yamān, as he died in the year (222). Therefore, there must be an intermediary between them as I mentioned earlier; it could be al-Ṣughdī or someone else; and Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Haythamī from the narration of al-Ṭabarānī in two places in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid." In the first place, he mentioned it in full with both sections as previously stated, and he said (2/179): "And in it is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zurayq (thus, but it is actually Ruzayq), al-Azdī said: His ḥadīth is not authentic." In the other place, he mentioned the first section of it, and he said (5/24): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ,' and its men are trustworthy."
