I said: thus, his ḥadīth is ḥasan—if Allāh wills. And the rest of the men in the isnād are all trustworthy, from the men of "al-Tahdhīb," except for those below Abū al-Yamān, as they are mentioned in "Tārīkh Baghdād": 1- As for Ayyūb ibn Sulaymān al-Ṣughdi; with a ḍammah on the ṣād and a sukūn on the ghayn; as in "Ansāb al-Samʿānī" and "al-Ikmāl" (5/201) by Ibn Mākūlā, and they did not provide a biography for him, but al-Khaṭīb provided one (7/11) through the narration of a group of trustworthy individuals including this al-ʿAskarī, then he said: "And he was trustworthy, he died in the year (274)." 2- As for Ibn Ḥammād al-ʿAskarī, he was among the students of Abū Dāwūd, and among the shaykhs of Imām al-Dāraqutnī and other trustworthy individuals. Al-Khaṭīb provided a biography (1/33-34) and narrated from al-Dāraqutnī that he deemed him trustworthy. He died in the year (341). 3- As for Ibn Ruzqawayh—his name is Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad; known as Ibn Ruzqawayh—al-Khaṭīb said (1/351): "He was trustworthy, truthful, with extensive hearing and writing, good in belief, of beautiful madhhab, persistent in reciting the Qurʾān, strict against the people of innovation, and I heard Abū Bakr al-Barqānī being asked about him? He said: Trustworthy. He died in the year (412)." I said: thus, the isnād of the ḥadīth is ḥasan—if Allāh wills. And Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned the ḥadīth in his second book: "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" through the path of Arṭāh in a suspended form, then he said: "Ibn Jūṣā informed us in Damascus."
