I have a task other than listening, or it is a denial that the matter is contrary to what he said. It was also said: it is in the sense of wonder, as if he said: Otherwise, what is in my memory and mastery of what I heard. This is how it appears in "al-Nihāyah" by Ibn al-Athīr, and it is recorded there as: "except what is my task." The commentator said: "in al-Harawī: (then)." The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Suyūṭī in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" with the wording of the translation attributed to Ibn Mardawayh as well, and al-Daylamī, meaning: in "Musnad al-Firdaws," and it is in "al-Firdaws" (3/396/5207), and the commentator mentioned al-Khaṭīb's isnād in it, and remained silent about it! He did nothing. It has various supporting narrations; see "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ" (3169, 3170, 4005, 4006), and "Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ" (2766-2769, 6463). (Note): I had previously extracted the ḥadīth in the other book under number (1600) for reasons mentioned there, and because I did not have "Musnad Isḥāq," which extracted it through a different route than al-Khaṭīb. When I reviewed it, I hastened to extract it here with a re-examination of al-Khaṭīb's route, expanding on the discussion of its narrators. I hope I have succeeded in correctly extracting it here, so let it be transferred from there. Then it seems that there is a contradiction between this ḥadīth and the upcoming ḥadīth numbered (3355) with the wording: "...and there is nothing on earth from Paradise other than it." How can this be reconciled? So I say: I mentioned there that perhaps what is meant by "other than it" is from the stones; thus, the term "thing" is specific to them. And Allāh knows best. *
