and the ḥadīth of the chapter has a strong corroborating narration from Anas, raised [to the Prophet]. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (4/392/3668): Sulaimān ibn Dāwūd al-Ṭabīb narrated to us, he said: Shaibān ibn Farrūkh narrated to us, he said: Salām ibn Miskīn narrated from Thābit from him. And he said: "No one narrated it from Salām ibn Miskīn except Shaibān ibn Farrūkh." I said: He is one of the teachers of Muslim in "Ṣaḥīḥ," and there is some discussion about him that does not harm [the narration], and those above him are from the narrators of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], so the isnād is authentic; except that I did not find a biography for al-Ṭabarānī's teacher (Sulaimān ibn Dāwūd al-Ṭabīb), and he only narrated one other ḥadīth from him, which suggests that he is not well-known among his teachers; so I do not know after this what the basis is for al-Haythamī's statement (2/17): "al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in 'al-Awsaṭ' and its men are trustworthy"?! For if this lenient authentication is because of the teacher, then who authenticated him? And if it is intended for those above him; you have known that they are from the narrators of the authentic collections, and we are accustomed to him not criticizing any of them even if there was a point of criticism, like Ibn Isḥāq and Sharīk and others; for he often says in some isnāds: "Its men are the men of the authentic collections," even if there was one among them like those mentioned, who were weakened! And it is in "the two Ṣaḥīḥs" from another route from Anas in a concise form with the wording: "Whoever eats from this tree should not approach us, nor pray with us." And it was also recorded by Abū ʿAwānah (2/17-18). And the ḥadīth of the chapter is with him (1/407-410)
