This is from the ḥadīth of al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), narrated by Abū Isḥāq ʿAmr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Sabīʿī. There is a difference in its isnād in several ways: The first: Sufyān from him from al-Muhallab ibn Abī Ṣufrah: He informed me from someone who heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say ... and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2597), al-Tirmidhī (1682), and Ibn al-Jārūd in "al-Muntaqá" (355/1063), and al-Ḥākim (2/107) said: "And likewise it was narrated by Zuhayr ibn Muḥammad from Abū Isḥāq, he narrated to us..." then he provided its isnād through the route of Aḥmad ibn Yūnus: Zuhayr narrated it. He said: "The isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim; except that it contains an omission, as the person whom al-Muhallab ibn Abī Ṣufrah did not name is al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib." Then he narrated it through the route of Shurayk, which follows, and the omission he refers to is in relation to Zuhayr's narration with him; for it is in the wording: "from al-Muhallab... he said: I heard someone narrating from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)" unlike Sufyān's previous narration; for it is explicit in its connection, as al-Muhallab said: "He informed me from someone who heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." However, Aḥmad ibn Yūnus was contradicted in his isnād, as Ibn Saʿd recorded it in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (2/72) saying: Ḥasan ibn Mūsá informed us: Zuhayr narrated it; except he did not mention: "He said: I heard someone narrating." Thus, it is mursal. Ḥasan was followed; al-Nasāʾī said in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (399/618): Hilāl ibn al-ʿAlāʾ informed me saying: Ḥusayn narrated to us saying: Zuhayr narrated it
