and it was also narrated by Aḥmad (3/391) through another chain from Jābir in a concise form, elevated with the wording: "None of you should enter upon his family at night," and its isnād is also sound. (Note): The ḥadīth of the chapter was narrated by ʿAbd al-Razzāq in "al-Muṣannaf" (7/495/14016) from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUmar with it; but he did not mention the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam); so I do not know if this was omitted by the copyist or the printer; or if the narration is like this with him?! And the word (daʿmarūhunna) appeared in it like this without diacritical marks, and it also appeared in "Kashf al-Astār," and Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī did not recognize its meaning in his commentary on it and on "al-Muṣannaf," so he left it without diacritics or explanation. Ibn al-Athīr clarified it in "al-Nihāyah," saying in the entry (gharar): "In the ḥadīth of ʿUmar (!): 'Do not enter upon women and do not deceive them,' meaning: do not enter upon them unexpectedly. It is said: I deceived the man if I sought his heedlessness; meaning: his negligence."
