the trustworthy narrators who transmitted from him, along with the reliability of those mentioned, and Ibn Ḥibbān's authentication of his ḥadīth, as well as al-Ḥākim and al-Dhahabī's, as will be mentioned, so one feels assured about his narration in this case; especially since his ḥadīth has many corroborating reports in general. Then Aḥmad narrated it: Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmr told us: Zāʾidah narrated to us from al-Aʿmash with his mentioned isnād from Abū Dharr who said: We were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) ... and he mentioned its meaning. And with this isnād, Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated (15/78/19166) only the ḥadīth of the chapter, and through his route: Ibn Shabbah narrated it in "Akhbār al-Madīnah" (1/280) in full. Al-Ḥākim also narrated it (4/442) through Abū Usāmah: Zāʾidah narrated it to me in full. And he said: "Its isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. Ibn Abī Shaybah also narrated it (19162): Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar narrated to us from ʿAmr ibn Qays from a man from Abū Dharr with it. And this isnād is also good; because the man is Ḥabīb ibn Jamāz, explicitly mentioned in the previous isnāds. (Note): There is much disagreement on the pronunciation of "Jamāz"; it has been said like this (1); and it has been said: "Jamār"; and it has been said: "Ḥimār", and other variations.
