"If only I knew! When will a fire emerge from Yemen from the mountain of al-Wirāq, illuminating the necks of camels resting in Buṣrá like the light of day?" It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/144): Wahb ibn Jarīr narrated to us: My father narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Aʿmash narrating from ʿAmr ibn Murrah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith from Ḥabīb ibn Jamāz from Abū Dharr who said: We approached with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and we stopped at Dhū al-Ḥulayfah. Some men hastened to the city, while the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) stayed the night, and we stayed with him. In the morning, he asked about them, and it was said: They hastened to the city. He said: "They hastened to the city and the women! Indeed, they will leave it in a better state than it was." Then he said ... and he mentioned it. It was also recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1891- Mawārid) through the path of ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī: Wahb ibn Jarīr narrated it, and he added—after saying: "in a better state than it was"—: "And he spoke kindly to those who stayed behind." I say: This is a good chain of narration in my opinion, all its men are trustworthy according to Muslim, except for Ḥabīb ibn Jamāz; al-Bukhārī and Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him with a narration from Simāk ibn Ḥarb about him as well, and they did not mention any criticism or endorsement. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (4/139); and likewise al-ʿAjlī said (106/245): "A trustworthy Kūfan follower."
