the mention of the Dajjāl was made in the presence of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said ... and mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic; its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, if al-Aʿmash heard it from Abū Wāʾil; for there is a disagreement in its isnād. It was also narrated by al-Bazzār (3391 - Kashf al-Astār), and likewise by Ibn Ḥibbān (6807 - al-Iḥsān) through the route of Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh from al-Aʿmash from Sulaymān ibn Maysarah from Ṭāriq ibn Shihāb from Ḥudhayfah in a similar manner, and it added at the end: "By Allāh! It does not harm a Muslim; written between his eyes: disbeliever." And its isnād is ḥasan due to the known disagreement regarding Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh. But he was followed by Manṣūr ibn Abī al-Aswad from al-Aʿmash: narrated by al-Bazzār (3392). The abridger of "al-Bazzār" said: "I said: he mentioned it similarly in brief." So we do not know his wording, nor the limits of his brevity?! It was also narrated in the same manner by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/185/3017) through the route of Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth: narrated to us by al-Aʿmash with the wording: the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, mentioning the Dajjāl: "Written between his eyes: disbeliever; every Muslim reads it." This portion was also narrated by Muslim (8/195), and Aḥmad (5/386 and 404-405) through the route of Rubayʿī ibn Ḥirāsh from Ḥudhayfah at the end of his ḥadīth, and it added: "literate and illiterate." Al-Haythamī said about the ḥadīth (7/335): "Narrated by Aḥmad and al-Bazzār, and its narrators are the narrators of (the authentic collection)."
ذُكر الدجال عند رسول الله ﷺ فقال ... فذكره. قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح رجاله ثقات رجال الشيخين؛ إن كان الأعمش سمعه من أبي وائل؛ فإنه قد خولف في إسناده؛ فأخرجه البزار (٣٣٩١- كشف الأستار)، وكذا ابن حبان (٦٨٠٧- الإحسان) من طريق أبي بكر بن عياش عن الأعمش عن سليمان بن ميسرة عن طارق بن شهاب عن حذيفة نحوه، وزاد في آخره:"والله! لا يضر مسلماً، مكتوب بين عينيه: كافر". وإسناده حسن للخلاف المعروف في أبي بكر بن عياش. لكن تابعه منصور بن أبي الأسود عن الأعمش: رواه البزار (٣٣٩٢). قال مُخْتَصِرُ" البزار":"قلت: فذكر نحوه باختصار". فلم ندر ما لفظه، وما حدود اختصاره؟! وقد رواه كذلك الطبراني في "المعجم الكبير" (٣/١٨٥/٣٠١٧) من طريق حفص بن غياث: ثنا الأعمش به بلفظ: قال رسول الله ﷺ وذكر الدجال-: "مكتوب بين عينيه: كافر؛ يقرؤه كل مسلم". وهذا القدر أخرجه مسلم (٨/١٩٥)، وأحمد (٥/٣٨٦ و٤٠٤ - ٤٠٥) من طريق ربعي بن حراش عن حذيفة في آخر حديث له، وزاد:"كاتب وغير كاتب". والحديث قال الهيثمي (٧/٣٣٥):"رواه أحمد والبزار، ورجاله رجال (الصحيح)".
