It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (2376) with a sound chain of narration. H - from Nāfiʿ from him who said: When the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) bade farewell to a man, he would take his hand and would not let it go until the man was the one to release the hand of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he would say: and he mentioned it. It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/255 Būlāq edition) who said: "This ḥadīth is strange from this perspective." I said: meaning that it is weak specifically through this route, because it is narrated by Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Zayd ibn Umayyah from Nāfiʿ, and this Ibrāhīm is unknown. However, he was not alone in narrating it, for it was also narrated by Ibn Mājah (2/943 number 2826) from Ibn Abī Laylá from him. And Ibn Abī Laylā has poor memory, and his name is Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and he did not mention the story of taking the hand.
- from ʿAbd Allāh al-Khaṭmī who said: When the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) wanted to entrust the army, he would say: "I entrust Allāh with your religion, your trustworthiness, and the end of your deeds." (from ʿAbd Allāh al-Khaṭmī) who said: When the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) wanted to entrust the army, he would say: and he mentioned it. It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd and Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (number 498) with a sound chain according to the criteria of Muslim, except for Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī—whose name is ʿUmayr ibn Yazīd—and he is unanimously considered trustworthy.
