but it has another chain that strengthens it, from the narration of Jaʿfar ibn Saʿd ibn Sumrah, from Khubayb ibn Sulaymān ibn Sumrah, from his father, from Sumrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "You will see before the Hour things that you will find astonishing; they will say: Were we told about this? When you see that, remember Allāh the Exalted, and know that these are the beginnings of the Hour..." until he said: "You will see mountains moving before the blast of the trumpet." It was narrated by al-Bazzār (4/143/3397) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (7/319/7083) through two chains from Jaʿfar ibn Saʿd. I say: It is a weak isnād; this Khubayb is unknown, his father is weak, and Jaʿfar is not strong. And the ḥadīth was left unremarked by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ" (13/84); but he said: "Great matters that you have not imagined!" It has a very brief authentic corroboration from the ḥadīth of al-Zuhrī: Anas ibn Mālik narrated to me that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out when the sun had declined, prayed ẓuhr, then stood on the minbar and mentioned the Hour, mentioning that it contains great matters, then he said... the ḥadīth. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (540 and 7294 - Fatḥ), and Aḥmad (3/162).
