I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, except for ʿUfair ibn Maʿdān, who is weak as stated in "al-Taqrīb." Al-Haythamī also criticized it in "al-Majmaʿ" (7/326). And I say: It has been narrated by Maʿmar from Qatādah from al-Ḥasan—mursal. It was recorded by ʿAbd al-Razzāq in "al-Muṣannaf" (11/374/20780); thus, the issue is the ʿanʿanah of al-Ḥasan—who is al-Baṣrī; for despite the scholars' disagreement on his hearing from Samurah, some accused him of tadlīs, and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah as you see. It is possible that he received it from Thaʿlabah ibn ʿIbād al-ʿAbdī al-Baṣrī; for it was narrated by al-Aswad ibn Qays from Thaʿlabah who said: "I witnessed one day a khuṭbah by Samurah ibn Jundub, and he mentioned in his khuṭbah a ḥadīth from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: I said: He mentioned the Prophet's (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prayer of the eclipse, then his khuṭbah afterwards, in which he said: 'By Allāh! The Hour will not come until thirty liars appear; the last of them is the one-eyed Dajjāl... and that will not happen until you see matters that greatly concern you and you ask among yourselves: Has your Prophet mentioned anything about them to you? And until mountains are removed from their places, then after that will be the seizing.'" It was recorded by Aḥmad, and al-Ṭabarānī (7/225-231), and some of the authors of "al-Sunan," and authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah (2/325/1397), Ibn Ḥibbān (2852 and 2856 al-Iḥsān), and al-Ḥākim (1/329). Its narrators are trustworthy, except for this Thaʿlabah; no one authenticated him except Ibn Ḥibbān (4/98), and no one narrated from him except this al-Aswad; and it is included in "Ḍaʿīf Abī Dāwūd" (216)
