Al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī said: "It is not narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās except through this isnād, and ʿAwf is unique in this." I said: He is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs; rather, Ibn Kathīr said in "al-Tafsīr" (3/15): "One of the reliable imams." And similarly is Zurārah ibn Awfá, so the isnād is authentic as al-Suyūṭī said in "al-Durr al-Manthūr" (4/155), and al-Ḥāfiẓ remained silent about it in "al-Fatḥ" (8/392), and elsewhere (7/199) he only deemed its isnād good! *
