Ibn Shihāb from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from ʿĀʾishah: that she said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, with no defect in it. It is surprising that Ibn Ḥibbān did not include it in his "Ṣaḥīḥ"! And from al-Ḥākim, how did he not include it in his supplement to al-Bukhārī and Muslim? Al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (3/33): "Aḥmad narrated it with a good isnād, as did Abū Yaʿlá and al-Ṭabarānī in (al-Awsaṭ)." Al-Haythamī followed him in attributing it to these three (4/132), but he said: "The men of Aḥmad are the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ." In specifying Imām Aḥmad without mentioning Abū Yaʿlá, there is some consideration in my view; for his isnād is likewise. He said: "Hārūn ibn Maʿrūf narrated to us: Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us: Saʿīd narrated to us with it," so this is also according to the criteria of "al-Ṣaḥīḥayn"; because this Saʿīd is Saʿīd ibn Abī Ayyūb explicitly mentioned in the preceding isnād, and Hārūn ibn Maʿrūf is also among the men of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. *
