and al-Raqī is weak, mentioned in "al-Mīzān" and "al-Lisān." In summary regarding these supporting narrations, there is nothing in them that assures the heart of their authenticity, but if they do not benefit and strengthen the ḥadīth, they will not harm. Furthermore, the other wording: "There is no deity but Allāh" is from Ibn Ḥibbān through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and from Aḥmad through the route of Ḥammād ibn Salamah in one narration, and from al-Ḥākim through the route of Ḥumayd. Shaykh Shuʿayb attributed it in his commentary on "al-Iḥsān" (15/262) to Muslim, and he erred! Just as the one who infringed upon my rights, books, and projects erred; that is the owner of the Islamic Office, and I was compelled to point out some of his transgressions in some of my writings, hoping he would return to his senses and repent to his Lord. Among these is that he abridged "al-Sunan al-Arbaʿah" in a deficient—indeed, disgraceful—manner, and transferred to it the rankings of its ḥadīths which I had assigned to them regarding authenticity and weakness. I presented them—meaning these verified "al-Sunan"—to the Director of the Arab Gulf Education Office upon his official request, and then I do not know how what follows occurred?! Was it an agreement between the two offices?! Or was it something devised in the night?! The important thing is that I was surprised that the aforementioned (owner) exploited my project submitted to the Education Office and published what he called "Ṣaḥīḥ Sunan Ibn Mājah with Abridged Isnād"! He did the same with the rest of the "al-Sunan," in both its "authentic" and "weak" sections, saying in all of it: "Weak Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī!" This is a lie and an unworthy trade in the name of al-Albānī, and he has another precedent of the same kind! For the abridgment is from him and not from me, and it contains many errors, confusions, and gross ignorances that cannot be counted. We only mention some of them—as the occasion arises—for awareness and lesson, like this ḥadīth; for the (owner) included it in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Tirmidhī" (2/242/1798) and summarized under it the words of al-Tirmidhī:
والرقي ضعيف مترجم في "الميزان " و"اللسان ". وجملة القول في هذه الشواهد؛ أنه ليس فيها ما تطمئن النفس لصحته، ولكنها إن لم تنفع وتعطي الحديث قوة على قوة؛ فلن تضر. ثم إن اللفظ الآخر: "لا إله إلا الله " هو لابن حبان من طريق عبد الرزاق، وأحمد من طريق حماد بن سلمة في رواية، والحاكم من طريق حميد. وقد عزاه الشيخ شعيب في تعليقه على "الإحسان " (١٥/٢٦٢) لمسلم فوهم! كما وهم فيه المعتدي على حقوقي وكتبي ومشاريعي؛ ألا وهو صاحب المكتب الإسلامي، وقد نَبَّّهْتُ مضطراً على بعض اعتداءاته في بعض كتاباتي؛ لعله يؤوب إلى رشده ويتوب إلى ربه، ومن ذلك أنه اختصر "السنن الأربعة " اختصاراً مخلاً- بل فاضحاً-، ونقل إليها مراتب أحاديثها التي كنت وضعتها عليها من صحة وضعف، وقدمتها- أعني: هذه "السنن " المحققة- إلى مدير مكتب التربية العربي الخليجي بطلب رسمي منه، ثم لا أدري كيف وقع ما يأتي بيانه؟! أكان ذلك باتفاق بين المكتبين؟! أم هو أمر دبر بليل؟! المهم أني فوجئت بأن (الصاحب) المشار إليه استغل مشروعي المقدم إلى مكتب التربية، وأصدر ما أسماه بـ "صحيح سنن ابن ماجه باختصار السند"! وكذلك فعل ببقية "السنن " بقسميها "الصحيح " و"الضعيف "، قائلاً في ذلك كله: "ضعيف محمد ناصر الدين الألباني "! وهو كذب ومتاجرة غير شريفة باسم الألباني، وله سابقة أخرى من مثلها! فإن الاختصار منه وليس مني، وفيه أوهام وتخليطات وجهالات كثيرة جداً لا يمكن إحصاؤها، وإنما نذكر شيئاً منها- بالمناسبة تعرض- للتعريف والعبرة كمثل هذا الحديث؛ فإن (الصاحب) أورده في "صحيح الترمذي " (٢/٢٤٢/١٧٩٨) ؛ وقال تحته مختصراً كلام الترمذي:
