"authentic according to the criteria of al-Shaykhayn!" and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! and it was also reported by Sinān ibn Saʿd from Anas with it, and he added: "and he enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong." It was also recorded by al-Ḥākim and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (3/82) through the route of Ibn Lahīʿah— the first added: and ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith— from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb from him. And he said: "authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī critiqued it by saying: "I say: Sinān was not narrated by Muslim." And I say: this is a limited critique; for there is a difference of opinion about the man, as it is said in "al-Kāshif": "He is not a proof, and from Ibn Maʿīn: trustworthy." And it is said in "al-Mughnī": "They weakened him, but he was not abandoned." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "truthful with unique narrations." And I have found supporting narrations for the ḥadīth: the first is from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd in a raised form with it.
