regarding this authentic ḥadīth in "al-Iḥsān" (15/243-244), for despite his explicit statement that its chain of transmission is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī, he claimed—imitating Ibn Kathīr—that its elevation is objectionable! Then he quoted Ibn Kathīr's words in his objection and adopted them, ignoring Ibn Kathīr's retraction of them! Furthermore, he was not satisfied with that, so his desire for refutation and criticism overcame him, and he concluded his commentary by attributing error to me in my authentication of this ḥadīth and my refutation of Ibn Kathīr! without responding to the refutation even with a word; merely claiming error, which anyone can do no matter how ignorant they are. Allāh is the one whose help is sought, and there is no power nor strength except with Allāh. *
- "The Hour will not be established upon anyone who says: Allāh, Allāh. And in another narration: There is no deity but Allāh." It was narrated by Muslim (1/91), Abū ʿAwānah (1/101), Ibn Ḥibbān (1911), and Aḥmad (3/162), and from him al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (1/396/524), and from others as well; all of them through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and this is in "al-Muṣannaf" (11/402/20847) who said: from Maʿmar from Thābit from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it. Ḥammād ibn Salamah followed him from Thābit with it. It was also narrated by Muslim, Abū ʿAwānah, Ibn Ḥibbān (8/299/6810 - al-Iḥsān), Aḥmad (3/259 and 268), Abū Yaʿlá (6/234/3526), and al-Bayhaqī also (525), and al-Ḥākim (4/495). Ḥumayd followed him from Anas with it. It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2207), al-Ḥākim (4/494), and Aḥmad (3/107 and 201) from routes from him, and its chain of transmission is threefold, and al-Ḥākim said:
