Among those who were before you, there was a man who had a wound and became impatient. He took a knife and cut his hand, and the blood did not stop until he died. Allāh, the Exalted, said: "My servant hastened his own death, so I have forbidden Paradise for him." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (3463 - Fatḥ): Muḥammad narrated to us, saying: Ḥajjāj narrated to us: Jarīr narrated from al-Ḥasan: Jundub ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us in this mosque, and we have not forgotten since he narrated to us, and we do not fear that Jundub lied about the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it. And he [al-Bukhārī] mentioned it in "Kitāb al-Janāʾiz" (1364) saying: Ḥajjāj ibn Minhāl said: Jarīr ibn Ḥāzim narrated it in a summarized form. This Ḥajjāj is among the narrators of both Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]; rather, he is among the teachers of al-Bukhārī, and he mentioned it, and connected it in the place referred to earlier. Therefore, al-Ḥāfiẓ commented on this suspended narration: "It is one of the instances used to infer that he may have narrated from some of his teachers with an intermediary between them." And al-Bukhārī's teacher (Muḥammad) is Ibn Maʿmar, and it is said: it is al-Dhuhlī, as al-Ḥāfiẓ said. I say: And he was followed; al-Ṭabarānī said in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (2/161/1664): ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated to us: Ḥajjāj ibn al-Minhāl narrated it. And he was followed by Wahb ibn Jarīr: My father narrated to us... and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Muslim, and Abū Yaʿlá in his "Musnad" (3/96/1527)
