I said: This chain of narration consists of narrators who are trustworthy and well-known, except for this Abū Yaʿqūb. ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Ziyād named him "ʿAbd Allāh" and mentioned that he is his grandfather, as you see, but I did not recognize him. They neglected him and did not mention him, neither in the kunyahs nor in the names. It is possible, in my opinion, that he is ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Aṣamm, as they mentioned that among those who narrated from him were ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Ziyād and Marwān al-Fazārī, who are the ones who narrated this ḥadīth from him, as you see. However, it is problematic that they did not mention that he was known by the kunyah Abū Yaʿqūb, but rather they mentioned two other kunyahs for him: "Abū Sulaymān" and "Abū al-ʿAnbas." It is also possible that this kunyah, "Abū Yaʿqūb," is a distortion of Abū Yaʿfūr, whose name is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUbayd ibn Nustās al-Kūfī. He narrated from Abū Thābit Ayman ibn Thābit and from Marwān al-Fazārī, as mentioned in "al-Tahdhīb." If he is indeed this person, then he is trustworthy and among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, making the chain authentic. However, it is countered by the fact that ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Ziyād named him as his grandfather ʿAbd Allāh, unless it is said that this addition in the narration of ʿAbd al-Wāḥid is an insertion by some of the copyists of the Musnad. In summary, this chain of narration is problematic for me, and perhaps we will later come across something that clarifies the truth in it. Allāh is the one whose help is sought. Perhaps because of what we mentioned, al-Mundhirī remained silent about this chain in "al-Targhīb" (3/54), and al-Haythamī followed him (4/175) and attributed it to al-Ṭabarānī as well
