the explanation of the ḥadīth1 - (they soften each other). This means they make each other gentle, that is, light in comparison to the greatness of what follows; the second makes the first gentle. 2 - (the handshake of his hand) meaning: his pledge to him and commitment to obey him, which is the act of shaking hands, and this occurs during the pledge of allegiance to the caliphate. 3 - (the fruit of his heart) meaning the sincerity of his pledge or his love with his heart. 4 - (then strike the neck of the other). Al-Nawawī said: "Its meaning is: repel the second one as he is rebelling against the leader. If he cannot be repelled except by war and he fights, then fight him. If fighting necessitates killing him, it is permissible to kill him, and there is no liability because he is unjust and aggressive in his fighting." The ḥadīth contains many benefits, among the most important of which is that the Prophet must call his ummah to good and guide them to it, and warn them of the evil he knows for them. This is a clear refutation of what is mentioned in some books of theology that the Prophet is someone to whom revelation is given, but he is not commanded to convey it!
