"his ḥadīth is not considered reliable when it is from the ḥadīth of Baqiyyah, and Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd is less than him; rather, his ḥadīth is considered when narrated by trustworthy narrators from him." I said: This is for two reasons: the first is that Baqiyyah has explicitly stated the transmission as you know, and there is only concern about his use of ambiguous terms, which has been resolved. The second is that he was corroborated by Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh who said: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ḥimyarī narrated to us with it, and his wording was: "When he came to a house of people, he would approach it from the side of its wall, and not come directly to its door." Aḥmad also recorded it, as did his son ʿAbd Allāh with their previous isnād: al-Ḥakam narrated to us: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us with it. This isnād is authentic; for Ibn ʿAyyāsh is trustworthy in his narration from the people of Syria, and this is among them; for Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān—who is Ibn ʿIrq, a Syrian from Ḥimṣ—Duhaym said: "I know him to be trustworthy." Ibn Ḥibbān also declared him trustworthy as mentioned earlier. Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it through his route in "al-Kabīr" with the wording: from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Busr: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "Do not approach houses from their doors, but approach them from their sides and seek permission. If permission is granted to you, then enter; otherwise, return."
