"and repentance is offered afterward." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (12/67 and 95), Muslim, al-Nasāʾī (2/254), as well as Abū Dāwūd (2/270), al-Tirmidhī (2627), and Aḥmad (2/376-377 and 479), all from al-Aʿmash from him with it. He was followed by al-Qaʿqāʿ and Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād from Abū Ṣāliḥ with it, excluding the addition, except that the first of them mentioned the plunder, and the first indicated it by saying: "and he mentioned a fourth, but I forgot it," and added: "If he does that, he removes the bond of Islam from his neck, but if he repents, Allāh accepts his repentance." This is an objectionable addition, uniquely reported by this Yazīd, who is the Hāshimī, their client, and he is weak due to poor memory. The fifth: from Hammām from him with it similarly, except that he said: "None of you should seize a plunder of high value to which the believers raise their eyes while he is a believer when he seizes it, and none of you should embezzle while he is a believer, so beware, beware." It was recorded by Muslim, and Aḥmad (2/317). The sixth and seventh: narrated by Ṣafwān ibn Sulaym from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār - the client of Maymūnah - and Ḥumayd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from him. It was recorded by Muslim, and Aḥmad through another route from ʿAṭāʾ alone as will be mentioned shortly. The eighth: from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from him.
