" I said: Mirdās, from whom Ziyād ibn ʿAlāqah narrated, is actually (Mirdās ibn ʿUrwah), another Companion, mentioned by al-Bukhārī, Abū Ḥātim, Ibn Ḥibbān, Ibn Mandah, and others. Muslim, Abū al-Fatḥ al-Azdī, and a group stated explicitly that (Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim) was the only one who narrated from Mirdās ibn Mālik al-Aslamī, and this is correct." I said: Imām al-Dāraqutnī also stated this explicitly, as he told al-Ḥākim and wrote it for him in his own handwriting, as found in "al-Mustadrak" (4/401), regarding others who were the only ones to narrate from some Companions whom he named.

It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (4/239) and through him by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" (6/410/8700) - he said: al-Qāsim ibn Mahdī: Yaʿqūb ibn Kāsib narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh ibn Maʿādh narrated to us from Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī from Anas: that a man was sitting with the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and his son came to him, so he took him, kissed him, and seated him in his lap. Then his daughter came, and he took her and seated her beside him. The Prophet ﷺ said: and he mentioned it. Ibn ʿAdī said: "I do not know anyone who narrates it from Maʿmar with this isnād except ʿAbdullāh ibn Maʿādh. Muḥammad ibn Saʿīd ibn Mihrān al-Aylī narrated to us: ʿAbbās al-ʿAnbarī narrated to us: Yaʿqūb ibn Kāsib narrated to us this very ḥadīth."
