and it has a corroborating narration from the ḥadīth of Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, raised [to the Prophet] similarly. It was recorded by Muslim (5/35) and al-Tirmidhī (1275), who said: "It is a ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth, and the practice is based on this among most scholars. They disliked the price of a dog, and this is the opinion of al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad, and Isḥāq. However, some scholars permitted the price of a hunting dog." I said: For this group, there is this ḥadīth and what corroborates it. So I say: It has another chain, or al-Walīd ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Rabāḥ has a corroborator for the general exception, as Muḥammad ibn Salamah said: from al-Muthanná from ʿAṭāʾ with it. It was recorded by al-Dāraqutnī (3/73/275) and he said: "al-Muthanná is weak." I said: He is Ibn al-Ṣabāḥ al-Yamānī, and he is not severely weak. Ibn Maʿīn declared him trustworthy in one narration, but the majority weakened him. Abū Ḥātim al-Rāzī, despite his known strictness in criticizing narrators, softened his stance on him, saying: "His ḥadīth is lenient." Al-Dhahabī relied on him in "al-Kāshif," and he said in "al-Mughnī": "Some have deemed him acceptable." It seems he is referring to what has been mentioned earlier, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "He is weak, he became confused at the end of his life, but he was devout." It seems he is indicating that he was overtaken by the heedlessness of the righteous, so someone like him can be used as supporting evidence, Allāh willing
وله شاهد من حديث رافع بن خديج مرفوعا نحوه. أخرجه مسلم (٥ /٣٥) والترمذي (١٢٧٥) (١) ، وقال: " حديث حسن صحيح، والعمل على هذا عندأكثر أهل العلم، كرهوا ثمن الكلب، وهو قول الشافعي وأحمد وإسحاق. وقدرخص بعض أهل العلم في ثمن كلب الصيد ". قلت: ولهذا البعض هذا الحديث ومايشهد له: فأقول: له طريق أخرى، أو للوليد بن عبيد الله بن أبي رباح متابععلى جملة الاستثناء، فقال محمد بن سلمة: عن المثنى عن عطاء به. أخرجهالدارقطني (٣ / ٧٣ / ٢٧٥) وقال: " المثنى ضعيف ". قلت: هو ابن الصباحاليماني، وليس شديد الضعف، وقد وثقه ابن معين في رواية، وضعفه الجمهور،وأبو حاتم الرازي مع تشدده المعروف في جرح الرواة ألان القول فيه، فقال: "لين الحديث ". واعتمده الذهبي في " الكاشف "، وقال في " المغني ": "ومشاه بعضهم ". فكأنه يشير إلى ما تقدم، وقال الحافظ: " ضعيف اختلط بأخرة،وكان عابدا ". فكأنه يشير إلى أنه أدركته غفلة الصالحين، فمثله يستشهد به إنشاء الله تعالى.
