disgraceful, and the correct [name]—as you know—is (ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzá), who is a minor Companion, like (Maḥmūd ibn Labīd) whose ḥadīth was weakened (al-Hidām) (2/214) on the pretext that it is mursal! Meanwhile, you see here he authenticated this ḥadīth of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān! Thus, you see him using double standards. Allāh is the One whose help is sought, and there is no power nor strength except with Allāh.

- "Three things are entirely unlawful: the earnings of a cupper, the fee of a prostitute, and the price of a dog, except for a hunting dog." It was narrated by al-Dāraqūṭnī (3/72) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab al-Qurqasānī: Nāfiʿ ibn ʿUmar informed us from al-Walīd ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Rabāḥ from his uncle ʿAṭāʾ from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)... And he said: "al-Walīd ibn ʿUbayd Allāh is weak." I said: Likewise, al-Bayhaqī said in "al-Sunan" (6/6) after mentioning it in a suspended form. And Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab al-Qurqasānī is truthful but makes many mistakes, as in "al-Taqrīb," but I see—and Allāh knows best—that the ḥadīth is authentic due to its various routes and supporting evidence, except for the phrase of exception, which is ḥasan, and it may be authentic for the same reason, so let us consider. As for the first, it has another route, narrated by Qays ibn Saʿd from ʿAṭāʾ with a similar wording without the exception, and its wording was mentioned under ḥadīth (2971). It was narrated by Ibn Ḥibbān (1118) with a good chain. And al-Ḥajjāj followed him from ʿAṭāʾ with a similar wording. It was narrated by Aḥmad (2/500) with a chain whose men are trustworthy according to the standards of the two Shaykhs, except for al-Ḥajjāj, who is Ibn Arṭāh, and he is trustworthy, but he is a mudallis, and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah
