"when a man embraced Islam, he was ordered to undergo circumcision, even if he was an adult." This is a sound isnād, either disconnected or halted, as it appears that Imām al-Zuhrī does not mean that this was during the time of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Due to the authenticity of its isnād from him, I included it in my new book "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Adab al-Mufrad" (484 / 948 / 1252). And Allāh knows best. Al-Bukhārī titled a chapter in it as "Chapter on the Circumcision of an Adult," and under it, he narrated the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah: "Ibrāhīm (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was circumcised at the age of one hundred and twenty," which is halted. The correct version is raised with the wording: "..after eighty years." It was narrated in it before the chapters with the number (1244) and is referenced in "al-Irwāʾ" (78). Aḥmad used it as evidence for the circumcision of an adult. Al-Khallāl narrated in "al-Wuqūf wa-l-Tarajul" (146 / 183) from Ḥanbal that he asked Abū ʿAbd Allāh about a dhimmī who converts to Islam. I said to him: Do you think he should purify himself through circumcision? He said: "He must do that." I said: What if he is an adult, male or female? He said: I prefer that he purifies himself, because of the ḥadīth: "Ibrāhīm was circumcised at the age of eighty years," Allāh said: * (the religion of your father Ibrāhīm) *. It was said to him: What if he fears for himself? He said: Even if he fears for himself, it is hoped that he will be safe. In another narration: He must purify himself, this is an impurity, meaning: the uncircumcised. Then al-Khallāl narrated from Imām Aḥmad that he was asked about the ḥajj of the uncircumcised. He said: Ibn ʿAbbās was strict about it, it was narrated from him that he has neither ḥajj nor prayer. It was said to him: What do you say? He said:
