I said: And this isnād is authentic, all its men are trustworthy according to the criteria of Muslim, and Ibn Jurayj and Abū al-Zubayr explicitly stated the transmission as will come, except for Shaykh Ibn Ḥibbān: ʿAbdān, who is al-Ahwāzī, and he is a reliable ḥāfiẓ, with a good biography in "Tadhkirat al-Ḥuffāẓ" and "al-Siyar" (14/168-172). It was also narrated by Abū ʿAwānah in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (5/508) and Aḥmad (3/297-298 and 322) as well as Muslim (6/154) through other chains from Ibn Jurayj: Abū al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh... and he mentioned the five prohibitions without the prohibition of drinking, and instead mentioned: "Do not place one of your legs over the other when reclining." I said to Abū al-Zubayr: They say 'Do not sit with your knees drawn up in a single lower garment exposing yourself?' He said: I heard Jābir say: Do not sit with your knees drawn up in a single lower garment. Ḥajjāj said from Ibn Jurayj: He said: ʿUmar turned away (1) exposing himself." Then Muslim and Abū ʿAwānah and others narrated from other chains from Abū al-Zubayr the four prohibitions, and in their narration: "And to sit with your knees drawn up in a single garment exposing your private parts."
