I said: It seems as if al-Haythamī hesitated about it and remained silent, and it is disputed. Similarly, a ḥadīth is considered good if it does not contradict, especially if the narrator is not the only one to report it, and this ḥadīth is like that. For it was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/131) through Khālid ibn Ilyās—also said to be Ibn Iyās—from Ṣāliḥ ibn Abī Ḥassān who said: I heard Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib say: "Indeed, Allāh is good and loves goodness, clean and loves cleanliness, generous and loves generosity, noble and loves nobility, so clean—I think he said—your courtyards, and do not resemble the Jews," he said. I mentioned that to Muhājir ibn Mismār and he said: ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd narrated it to me from his father from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly, except that he said: "Clean your courtyards." Al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a strange ḥadīth, and Khālid ibn Ilyās is weak." I said: And in "al-Taqrīb": "He is abandoned in ḥadīth." Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned the ḥadīth in "Zād al-Maʿād" (3/208) saying: "In the Musnad of al-Bazzār from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that he said: 'Indeed, Allāh is good...' the ḥadīth, 'so clean your courtyards and open spaces, and do not resemble the Jews, who gather rubbish in their homes.'" I do not know if it is with al-Bazzār through this route of Khālid or another route. I found another route for it, but it is not something to be pleased with; it was narrated by al-Dūlābī in "al-Kuná" (2/16) from Abū al-Ṭayyib Hārūn ibn Muḥammad who said: Bakīr ibn Mismār narrated to us from ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd with it. All its narrators are trustworthy except for this Abū al-Ṭayyib, who is not good! Ibn Maʿīn said: He was a liar
