I said: Abū al-Zubayr is known for tadlīs [obfuscating his sources], and he used the ambiguous term "ʿanʿanah" [narrating with "from"], but his ḥadīth in supporting evidence is acceptable, especially since he explicitly stated hearing it in the narration of Ibn Lahīʿah from him. As for Muslim, he relied upon him! There is another supporting narration from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saw a woman who pleased him, so he went to Sawdah, who was preparing perfume and had women with her. They left him alone, he fulfilled his need, then said: 'Any man who sees a woman who pleases him, let him go to his wife, for she has what she has.'" It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/146) and al-Sarī ibn Yaḥyá in "Ḥadīth al-Thawrī" (Q 205/1) from Abū Isḥāq from Ibn Masʿūd.

- "Purify your courtyards, for the Jews do not purify their courtyards." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (11/2 from "al-Jamʿ bayna Zawāʾid al-Muʿjamayn"): narrated to us by ʿAlī ibn Saʿīd, narrated to us by Zayd ibn Akhzam, narrated to us by Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī, narrated to us by Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd from al-Zuhrī from ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd from his father in a marfūʿ manner, and he said: "No one narrated it from al-Zuhrī except Ibrāhīm, and no one from him except al-Ṭayālisī, Zayd was unique in narrating it." I said: He is a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ, and the rest of the narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim except for ʿAlī ibn Saʿīd who is al-Rāzī. Al-Dhahabī said: "A reliable, traveling scholar." Al-Dāraqutnī said he is not that [strong], he narrated unique things. Ibn Yūnus said: He understood and memorized, "and al-Ḥāfiẓ added in 'al-Lisān': 'and Maslamah ibn Qāsim said: He was trustworthy, knowledgeable in ḥadīth.'" Al-Munāwī said: "Al-Haythamī said: His narrators are the narrators of the authentic collections except for the shaykh of al-Ṭabarānī."
