- "A group from the Children of Israel was transformed, and I fear that this might be the case here, meaning the frogs." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1070 - Mawārid), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Sharḥ al-Maʿānī" (2/314) and "Mushkil al-Āthār" (4/278), al-Bayhaqī (9/325), Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (8/266), Aḥmad (4/196), Abū Yaʿlá (2/231/931), and al-Bazzār (2/66/1217) through various chains from al-Aʿmash, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥasnah who said: I was with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) on a journey, and we encountered frogs, and the pots were boiling. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it. He said: "So we overturned them, even though we were hungry." The context is from Ibn Abī Shaybah. Aḥmad added in a narration: "So overturn them. We overturned them." The wording of Abū Yaʿlá, and through his route Ibn Ḥibbān: "So he commanded, and we overturned them, even though we were hungry." Al-Bazzār said: "We do not know that Ibn Ḥasnah narrated except this and one other, and Ḥuṣayn disagreed with al-Aʿmash, saying: from Zayd ibn Wahb from Ḥudhayfah." He said in the ḥadīth of Ḥudhayfah: "This is how Ḥuṣayn narrated it from Zayd, and al-Aʿmash, al-Ḥakam ibn ʿUtaybah, and ʿAdī ibn Thābit disagreed, each one of them differing from his companion."
- " إن أمة من بني إسرائيل مسخت، وأنا أخشى أن تكون هذه. يعني الضباب ". أخرجه ابن حبان (١٠٧٠ - موارد) والطحاوي في " شرح المعاني " (٢ / ٣١٤) و " مشكل الآثار " (٤ / ٢٧٨) والبيهقي (٩ / ٣٢٥) وابن أبي شيبة في " المصنف " (٨ / ٢٦٦) وأحمد (٤ / ١٩٦) وأبو يعلى (٢ / ٢٣١ / ٩٣١) والبزار (٢ / ٦٦ / ١٢١٧) من طرق عن الأعمش عن زيد بن وهب عن عبد الرحمن بن حسنة قال: كنت مع رسول الله ﷺ في سفر، فأصبنا ضبابا، فكانت القدور تغلي، فقال رسول الله ﷺ فذكره. قال: " فأكفأناها وإن الجياع ". والسياق لابن أبي شيبة. وزاد أحمد في رواية: " فأكفئوها. فأكفأناها ". ولفظ أبي يعلى، ومن طريقه ابن حبان: " فأمر فكفأناها وإن الجياع ". وقال البزار: " لا نعلم روى ابن حسنة إلا هذا وآخر، وقد خالف حصين الأعمش، فقال: عن زيد ابن وهب عن حذيفة ". وقال في حديث حذيفة: " هكذا رواه حصين عن زيد، وخالفه الأعمش والحكم بن عتيبة وعدي بن ثابت، خالف كل واحد منهم صاحبه ".
