and the chain is authentic if Rabīʿah heard it from Abū Saʿīd, as Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr stated in "al-Tamhīd" (3/214) that he did not hear from him. Zubayd also followed him, stating that Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī informed him that he came to his family and found with them a dish of tharīd and meat from the sacrificial animals... the ḥadīth, similar to the narration of ʿAbdullāh ibn Khabbāb... It was reported by al-Ṭaḥāwī (2/307) through the route of ʿAmr ibn Khālid who said: Ibn Lahīʿah informed us from Abū al-Zubayr from Zubayd... and its men are trustworthy, but Ibn Lahīʿah has poor memory, yet he was followed up, as Ibn Jurayj said: Sulaymān ibn Mūsá said: Zubayd informed me that Abū Saʿīd came to his family... the ḥadīth. It was reported by Aḥmad (4/15). And Ibn Jurayj is a mudallis, and he narrated it in a suspended form (he said)! However, he said in another narration with Aḥmad: Abū al-Zubayr informed me from Jābir, similar to this ḥadīth of Zubayd from Abū Saʿīd, not all of it reaching from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). (Note): All these narrations, whether authentic or weak, indicate that Abū Saʿīd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) did not hear the permission to store from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), but rather received it from his brother Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān as in the ḥadīth of the translation, thus it is from the mursal of the Companions. As for what is in "al-Musnad" (3/63 and 66) from the narration of Fulayḥ from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Thābit from his father from Abū Saʿīd that he heard that from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), it is rejected, and its defect is Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr—who is al-ʿAtuwārī—is only known by this narration. As for Ibn Ḥibbān, he mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (7/374 and 422), so someone like him is not used as evidence, especially in cases of contradiction.
