that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade the consumption of sacrificial meat beyond three days, then permitted us to eat and store it. He said: Then Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān, the brother of Abū Saʿīd, came, and they offered him some of the preserved sacrificial meat. The ḥadīth is similar to his previous narration without the story of the woman, but he reversed the text, making the narrator of the permission Abū Saʿīd and the one who abstained Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān! The first version is the preserved one, as al-Mizzī said. It was also recorded by al-Nasāʾī, Aḥmad (3/23), Abū Yaʿlá (2/281/997), and from them by Ibn Ḥibbān (7/567/8596) through various chains from Yaḥyá. Anīs ibn ʿImrān differed with them in the text, narrating from Saʿd ibn Isḥāq... with his mentioned isnād from Abū Saʿīd that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)... and he mentioned it briefly without the story of Qatādah! It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī (2/308). However, this Anīs is not well-known. Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (1/1/335): "I asked my father about him, and he said: He is a shaykh." And he said: "An Egyptian, narrated from by Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ." I say: And he was also narrated from by Yūnus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlá al-Ṣadafī al-Miṣrī, the shaykh of al-Ṭaḥāwī in this ḥadīth. There was a typographical error in the name of Anīs's father in the book of al-Ṭaḥāwī: "ʿIyāḍ" (1), which I corrected from "al-Jarḥ" and "al-Thiqāt" (8/134), and there were other typographical and scholarly errors that I pointed out in my book "Taysīr al-Intifāʿ," as his name "Anīs" appeared in the biography of Yūnus in "Tahdhīb al-Mizzī" as (Anas) enlarged, which is likely a typographical error
