ibn Ḥusayn ibn Jaʿfar, and Abū Isḥāq ibn Yasār from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Khabbāb - the freedman of Banī ʿAdī ibn al-Najjār - from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, and he mentioned it. I said: This is a good isnād in which Ibn Isḥāq explicitly stated the transmission. He narrated it from his two teachers, one of whom is his father Isḥāq ibn Yasār, and the other is Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Ḥusayn, who is the son of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib. He is a trustworthy and virtuous person, known as Abū Jaʿfar. It appears that the title (Abū) was mistakenly altered in the isnād to (ibn)! (1). The ḥadīth was left unremarked by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ" (10/25), which indicates his inclination to strengthen it. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (4/26): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, and its men are trustworthy." Abū Jaʿfar and his peer Isḥāq ibn Yasār were followed up, as Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd - who is the Anṣārī judge - said from al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad from ibn Khabbāb - who is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Khabbāb - that Abū Saʿīd ibn Mālik al-Khudrī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) returned from a journey. In another narration: from al-Qāsim that ibn Khabbāb informed him that he heard Abū Saʿīd narrate that he was absent and then returned... the ḥadīth is similar but abbreviated without the story of the woman. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (3997 and 5568) and the other narration is his, and by al-Nasāʾī (2/208-209) and al-Bayhaqī (9/292). Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd has another isnād for it, as he said: Saʿd ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, saying: Zaynab bint Kaʿb narrated to me from Abū Saʿīd:
