with his isnād in "al-Musnad" where he said: "Abū al-ʿAlāniyyah," and regarding al-Ṭabarānī, who narrated it through the route of Fahd ibn ʿAwf Abū Rabīʿah, he said: Ḥammād ibn Salamah informed us from Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī, ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal, and Hishām ibn Ḥassān from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn from Abū al-ʿĀliyah. The answer is simple, which is that this Fahd is not reliable, so his narration is not considered, let alone his contradiction?! Muslim and others abandoned him, and Ibn al-Madīnī declared him a liar. As for Hishām, it has been clarified from what has preceded. And regarding ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal, he was contradicted by ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Ziyād, as al-Bukhārī said in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1077): Mūsá ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us: he said: ʿAbd al-Wāḥid narrated to us, he said: ʿĀṣim narrated to us, Muḥammad narrated from Abū al-ʿAlāniyyah, he said: and he mentioned it similarly. And there is a story in it, and this isnād is authentic as has been mentioned. As for his narration from Ḥammād from Ayyūb, the matter is different, for I found him a strong corroborator, as ʿAbd al-Razzāq said in "al-Muṣannaf" (9/206/16947): from Maʿmar from Ayyūb from Ibn Sīrīn from Abū al-ʿĀliyah. So is this also from some copyists? That is difficult to determine definitively except after examining another ancient copy of "al-Muṣannaf" other than the one it was printed on, or what supports that from other routes from Ayyūb. And Allāh knows best. Then indeed the ḥadīth was corroborated by Abū al-ʿĀliyah or Abū al-ʿAlāniyyah, as Qatādah said: Four men narrated to me from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī: and he mentioned it.
